WHO WE RUN WATER FOR

THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

THE BRIEF

With more pressure on it than most organisations, this government department was keen to brush up its act on sustainability, while blazing a trail for other departments in its prudent fiscal performance. However, with a complex nexus of sites to consider, and staff numbers nearing the 5,000 mark, making reductions, and maintaining improved levels of efficiency, were not going to be easy.

THE RESULTS

The Department for Education was one of the first organisations to take advantage of our no-risk AquaFundTM grant scheme, in order to make water-efficiency improvements. This meant that all the labour, expertise and technology it required, to update its systems and practises, could be accessed without any up-front costs. Across five key sites, accommodating 4,900 staff, water savings totalling over £120,000 were made.

“The partnership with ADSM provides a real opportunity to fast track savings to meet government targets. We were delighted to be one of the first government departments to sign up for their water service contract. It demonstrates that good environmental management makes excellent business sense.”

Adrian Anderson, Energy Co-Ordinator, Ashfield District Council
