The Awards celebrate exemplar projects and organisations that are leading the way in water efficiency best practice. The entries are judged on those who demonstrate the greatest achievements in their immediate outcomes, effective partnership and collaboration and most importantly the legacy that they leave behind.
The London Borough of Ealing and ADSM are delighted to be named as finalists in the Business and Industry category with their project “AquaFund”.
Year 1 of the 5 year project has seen Ealing reduce its water consumption by 33% (74 million litres) and its water bill by £150,000 per annum through its partnership with the award winning AquaFund Grant Scheme.
AquaFund provided the Borough with all the finance and resources necessary in order to reduce its water consumption and achieve financial savings; including the full grant, consultancy services, site audits and state-of-the-art water saving technologies, together with water data and tariff analysis, bill validation, services and on-going monitoring.
Along with consumption and financial savings the Borough has reduced its CO2e and helped thousands of people out of water poverty through the funds partnership with charity WaterAid.
The Awards are judged by a panel of experts including Toby Willison, Director of Water and Land, Environment Agency with the winners being announced on the 16th of June 2014 at the WWF Living Planet Centre – one of the greenest buildings in the UK.
